Amy Schmidt is an attorney with more than 20 years of experience in municipal law, serving municipalities of all sizes. She got her start as a law clerk at the Saint Paul City Attorney’s Office in 2000 while still in law school. While there, she developed a passion for serving public entities, and that passion has continued over the course of her career. She has served as a staff attorney at the League of Minnesota Cities, as a contract city attorney for more than 15 municipalities, and as an assistant city attorney for the City of Bloomington. Most recently, she served as an Assistant County Attorney in the Civil Division of the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, where she advised Ramsey County staff, leadership, and elected officials on operational and real estate matters related to Parks and Recreation, Housing Stability, and the full portfolio of property owned or managed by Ramsey County. She also served as the lead attorney for the Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority, and for the Ramsey County Community and Economic Development Department, which includes the Ramsey County Housing and Redevelopment Authority.

Amy brings a wealth of general municipal knowledge and experience to Campbell Knutson, and also specializes in real estate and development, land use, property management, economic development, affordable housing, and transit development and management. She also has extensive experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion work, and participated in the creation and implementation of the Ramsey County Economic Competitiveness and Inclusion Plan, and Equitable Development Framework.
