On June 17, 2021, Campbell Knutson Attorney Meagan Kelley presented the Criminal Law Update at the Minnesota Association of City Attorneys 2021 Legislative Update. The Legislative Update is an annual event where select speakers present and discuss changes to Minnesota law that occurred during the most recent legislative session.

Kelley spoke about the changes in criminal law legislature, such as recognizing and enforcing Canadian orders for protection, allowing pregnant and postpartum female inmates to be conditionally released to community-based programs, and requiring predatory offenders to disclose their status to hospice providers. Kelley also discussed bills that were introduced during the session that could possibly be enacted into law in future sessions, which included changes to first-degree assault and DWI statutes, introducing a pilot program for roadside testing for controlled substances, and closing loopholes in sexual conduct statutes.
